Extinction Machine is the 5th novel in the Joe Ledger book series. This book involves the underground black market for alien technology.

Plot

In Extinction Machine,the DMS must go up against someone—or something—in search of new technology that could bring about world war. The President of the United States vanishes from the White House, without a trace. A top-secret prototype stealth fighter is destroyed during a test flight. Witnesses on the ground say that it was shot down by a craft that immediately vanished at impossible speeds. All over the world reports of UFOs are increasing at alarming rates. Joe Ledger and the Department of Military Sciences rush headfirst into the heat of the world’s strangest and deadliest arms race, because the global race to recover and retro-engineer alien technologies has just hit a snag. Someone, or something, wants that technology back!

-Taking place a year after the novel ''Assassins 'Code, ''Echo Team is deployed to Wolf Trap, Virginia where contact is lost with the staff of <span class="readable" id="reviewTextContainer586698970" style="">Shelton Aeronautics</span>. While Echo Team investigates a mysterious van pulls up and demands to be part of the investigation. The other party claims to be part of the FBI but a scan of their plates confirms they are an independent party. Things go down hill when the mysterious people attack with alien-looking weapons. After the battle which blasts a hole in the main lobby the staff of the lab are found dead. Echo Team reports in the incident and other law enforcement agencies are sent in. After the weird weapons are sent in the team goes back on salad. Then with the help of his friend, he ventured off into space and died
